Why Do So Many People Choose Turkey for Aesthetic Surgery?
Turkey has established itself as a widely recognised destination for aesthetic procedures, attracting clients from across the world. This reputation is built on a combination of experienced surgical teams, well-developed medical infrastructure, and competitive pricing that is difficult to match in Western Europe.
Turkish surgeons operating within accredited facilities are generally known for their extensive training and procedural volume across a wide range of aesthetic specialisms.
What continues to draw clients to Turkey is the balance between accessibility and clinical standards — making procedures that may be cost-prohibitive in Europe a realistic option for many. Individual experiences and outcomes vary.
How to Choose an Aesthetic Surgery Clinic in Turkey
- Assess your individual situation and goals
- Research the entire medical team, not only the surgeons
- Review before and after images from the clinic
- Look for client testimonials and feedback
- Find out about pre- and post-procedure care arrangements
- Verify that ongoing support is available after your return home
- Ensure the procedure will take place in a hospital environment
- Consider the partner surgeons' experience and specialisation
- Follow the clinic on their social media platforms to assess their ongoing work
Does Low Cost Means Low Quality?
The affordability of aesthetic procedures in Istanbul can raise questions, with some assuming that lower prices indicate lower standards. In practice, the cost difference is largely driven by the favourable exchange rate of the Turkish lira against GBP, Euro, and USD — meaning clients can access procedures at accredited partner clinics and hospitals at a significantly lower cost than equivalent treatments in Europe.
Over the past two decades, the number of Turkish surgeons specialising in aesthetic procedures has grown considerably, increasing competition across clinics. This has contributed to more competitive pricing alongside well-developed clinical infrastructure. Turkish medical institutions are widely recognised internationally for their volume and range of aesthetic procedures performed each year.

Frequently Asked Questions
Our representatives are available 24/7 to answer all your questions.
A rhinoplasty procedure carried out by a qualified partner surgeon in a hospital setting in Turkey generally costs between £2,500 and £3,000. Quotes significantly below this range may indicate procedures carried out outside of appropriate clinical settings or by insufficiently qualified practitioners.
Turkey has a well-developed reputation for rhinoplasty procedures, with a high volume of operations performed each year by experienced surgeons across accredited facilities. Individual outcomes vary depending on the surgeon, technique, and each client’s circumstances.
Turkey is among the most widely chosen destinations for rhinoplasty internationally, owing to its combination of experienced surgical teams, accredited hospital infrastructure, and competitive pricing.
A rhinoplasty procedure generally requires a stay of approximately 7 nights in Turkey. Most clients are able to return home without bandages or stitches after this period, though individual recovery timelines vary.
Turkey can be a suitable destination for plastic surgery when procedures are carried out in accredited hospitals by qualified partner surgeons, with proper pre- and post-procedure coordination in place. GMC facilitates access to partner clinics and surgeons to support this.
Rhinoplasty results are generally long-lasting. However, the nose is a structure that may undergo minor natural changes over many years. These changes are typically subtle following a well-performed procedure. Individual outcomes vary.
Turkey is widely recognised as offering competitive pricing for rhinoplasty, largely due to lower operating costs, wage rates, and cost of living compared to Europe. This does not necessarily reflect a difference in clinical standards when procedures are carried out in accredited facilities.
Istanbul and Izmir are the most established cities in Turkey for rhinoplasty, with a high concentration of qualified surgeons and accredited hospitals offering these procedures.
There is no single definitive answer to this question. Surgeons who perform rhinoplasty tend to have specific areas of specialisation based on nose types and desired outcomes. The most important step is to work with a facilitation service that can match you with a partner surgeon whose experience aligns with your specific case and goals.
There is no universally recognised single best rhinoplasty surgeon globally. Even highly experienced surgeons tend to specialise in particular nose types and outcomes. A personalised matching process — rather than a generic ranking — is the most reliable approach to finding the right partner surgeon for your individual needs.
Your partner surgeon will provide a detailed, personalised list of pre-operative instructions. The following is general guidance only — please follow the specific instructions provided by your partner surgeon, as individual requirements may differ:
- Inform your partner surgeon of any routine medication and your health history
- Avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen sodium, and any products containing these for at least two weeks before surgery
- Stop smoking two weeks before surgery and avoid exposure to smoke
- Avoid tanning beds or direct sun exposure on your face for at least one month before surgery
- Stop alcohol and caffeine intake 24 hours before surgery
- Do not eat or drink anything after 9pm the night before the operation — no food, water, coffee, juice, or liquids on the morning of surgery
- You may brush your teeth on the morning of the operation
- You may shower on the morning of the operation
- If your hair is long, wear it up in a ponytail
- Do not wear make-up, jewellery, contact lenses, hairspray, hair conditioner, or nail polish
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing
- Inform your partner surgeon if you experience any of the following within two weeks of surgery: fever, cough, cold, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, rash, or signs of illness
Although it may vary from client to client, here is a typical schedule:
Day 1
- You arrive at the airport, where a driver will meet you at the customs exit with a name tag
- You will be taken to the partner hospital and introduced to your patient coordinator, who is fluent in your language
- After initial registration, you will meet your partner surgeon in person — they will explain the procedure, examine you, and discuss your preferences and expectations
- Final pre-operative checks will be carried out
- The procedure will begin and generally lasts one to two hours
- Within approximately one hour of the procedure, anaesthesia will ease and you will regain consciousness
- Your partner surgeon will carry out an initial check-up and you will stay at the hospital on the first night
- A temperature facemask may be applied after the procedure to help soften tissues and reduce bruising and swelling
Day 2
- This will be a rest and recovery day
- Your partner surgeon will carry out a morning check-up before discharge from hospital
- You will be provided with medication guidance and dressing instructions
- You will move to your hotel room and rest for the remainder of the day
Days 3, 4 and 5
- Continue to rest as much as possible
- Avoid strenuous activity, though light walks or going out for dinner are generally fine
- Light sightseeing or shopping may be a suitable option depending on how you feel
Day 6
- You will visit the partner hospital for final checks, removal of the nasal bandage and stitches, and a dressing change
- Your partner surgeon will advise on medication and the types of activities you may resume during recovery
- You will generally be ready to return home after Day 6
Your partner surgeon will provide detailed post-operative instructions tailored to your situation. The following is general guidance only:
- Some pain in the nose area is expected for the first 3–4 days — take prescribed pain medication before pain becomes severe
- Some bruising and swelling are normal — final results generally take between 3–6 months to fully develop
- Apply cold compresses to the operative area for 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off, as needed during the first 24–48 hours
- Do not apply warm or hot compresses to the operative area
- Sleep with your head elevated on two pillows for one week
- Do not blow your nose for two weeks — you may gently clean your nostrils with a warm, moistened tissue
- If you need to sneeze, do so through your mouth
- Avoid touching your nose in any way for at least 3–4 weeks after surgery
- Some numbness in the operative area may be expected — this generally fades over time
- Follow the medication plan provided by your partner surgeon — avoid Aspirin and Aspirin-containing products
- While taking prescribed pain medication, maintain high fluid intake to prevent dehydration
- Do not consume alcohol while taking prescribed pain medication
- Suitable foods after surgery include crackers, rice, lightly salted foods, and light soups
- Do not take medications on an empty stomach
- Rest when you feel tired
- You may get up and walk around the day after surgery to help prevent blood clots
- You may gradually resume activities at a light pace — most clients can return to normal activities within 2–3 weeks
- Avoid direct sun exposure on the operative area for one year
- You may drive after 2–3 days, provided you are not taking prescription pain medication
- You may return to work within 5–7 days, depending on the nature of your work
- You may shower the day after surgery — any soap, body wash, shampoo, or conditioner is generally acceptable
- Do not get your dressings wet
- You may tilt your head back to shampoo and rinse your hair
- Your nose may be packed with soft tampons and dressing after surgery — this may temporarily prevent nasal breathing, so breathe through your mouth
- Keep a humidifier and plenty of fluids near your bed to help with comfort and hydration
- Change the drip pad under your nose when necessary
Partner surgeons available through GMC have extensive experience in rhinoplasty, with many having performed a significant number of procedures over their careers, including a high volume of rhinoplasty-specific cases.
You may wear glasses after the procedure, but they should not rest directly on the nose or apply any pressure to the nasal area. Your partner surgeon will advise on the appropriate timing based on your recovery progress.
Many clients choose to combine procedures such as eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty in a single visit. Combining procedures may make it possible to benefit from reduced overall pricing. Speak to a patient coordinator for details.
It is recommended to sleep on your back with your head elevated for the first few days following the procedure.
You should avoid blowing your nose for at least ten days after rhinoplasty surgery. If you develop a cold during this period, speak to your partner surgeon for guidance.
Rhinoplasty, including procedures addressing septum deviation, may in some cases support improved nasal breathing. In most cases, the sense of smell is not expected to be adversely affected by rhinoplasty, though individual experiences may vary. Discuss any concerns with your partner surgeon prior to the procedure.
The effect of rhinoplasty on nasal allergies is generally modest, though in some cases it may support easier breathing. You should inform your partner surgeon about any allergies before the procedure.
Bandages are generally worn until the final check-up appointment. Some swelling and mild redness following the procedure is a normal part of the recovery process.
Incision lines are generally placed inside the nostrils, making them not visible from the outside.
Partner surgeons can address both aesthetic concerns and functional issues such as breathing difficulties caused by structural deformities. In addition to rhinoplasty, septum deviation correction may also be performed where appropriate, with the aim of improving nasal airflow. Your partner surgeon will assess your individual circumstances during consultation.
Following the procedure, you should follow the medication routine prescribed by your partner surgeon, including any pain relief and antibiotics. Lying with your head elevated and applying cold compression to the nose area is generally recommended during the initial recovery period. Most clients are able to resume daily routines within approximately one week, though strenuous activity should be avoided for at least two weeks following surgery.
Prior to surgery, partner surgeons typically prepare a simulated image of the proposed outcome based on your preferences, so that the procedure can be planned accordingly. They will also advise on nose shapes that may complement your facial anatomy. If you have concerns about your results after the procedure, raise these with your GMC patient coordinator, who will liaise with the partner clinic on your behalf. Individual results vary, and decisions regarding revision surgery should be discussed directly with your partner surgeon.
