From the moment I enquired with Global Medical Care I have received constant communication, flying to Turkey for surgery is very daunting, however we were made to feel welcome and relaxed. Our Dr has been incredible, he must have visited us 8/9 times during our stay, answering any questions, and really made me feel that he cared. Our translator Sammy was on hand to help with anything we needed and even a rep from GMC came and saw us and spent time with us.
Gastric Sleeve is a big operation and the team made us feel so supported. Our surgeon has just text even after discharge. I can’t thank you all enough. My life has completely changed.

Just on my last day before travelling back home to England, after having a gastric sleeve with Dr Yalim Ucktum via Global Medical Care. Right from the initial contact, I felt confident in my decision and comforted by every question answered by them.
When we got to Turkey, everything was ready, the transfers were lovely big Mercedes, when we got to the hospital for our first night, our English translator was there straight away and ordered us dinner. We started with our first test which then carried on the next morning, there are so many tests and this was really reassuring. Our doctor came to visit us before our op and just is the loveliest man. The Global Medical Care team were also there, which was lovely as we had been speaking with them for so long.
The op itself went really well, and we’ve had great after care from the whole team, including the doctor who kept coming to check on us.
I would recommend over and over.

Can implants improve my appearance?
Our dentists not only aim to improve your chewing abilities and your oral hygiene but also focus on the aesthetic aspects while reconstructing your teeth.
Do I need any special aftercare?
Even though there is no special aftercare, you will be given post-op instructions for your crowns. In order to speed up your healing process, you should follow these rules. You should not smoke after the operation because smoking slows down the healing process. You need to avoid excessive alcohol consumption. You also should follow the medication routine set by your dentist and take your antibiotic/painkillers continuously.
Does age make a difference?
Age is not the most important issue regarding dental implants. Our dentists have great success on young patients as well. Missing teeth caused by sports injuries or any other related incidents can successfully be reconstructed by our dentists.
Does dental implant can be applied to anyone?
Dental implants procedure can be applied in patients of any age provided that they have a sufficient quantity and quality of bone tissue available. Most healthy individuals who maintain a good oral hygiene program are suitable candidates for dental implants. The situations in which implants may not be suitable or there is an increased risk of implant failure include:
- Heavy smoking – this slows down and hinders the healing process
- Excessive alcohol intake – disrupts healing of the gums
- Periodontal gum disease – all active gum disease must be treated prior to any implant procedure to ensure the long-term success of any treatment. Periodontal disease is a major cause of bone loss, which would hinder the success of any implant procedure
- Immuno-compromised individuals (steroids, auto-immune disease, patients undergoing radiation treatment)
- Teeth grinders (bruxism) – a night-time splint can be given to treat this
How long do dental implants last?
If you care about your dental implants properly, they should last for a lifetime. Oral hygiene and routine dentist visits are vital elements for the life of your implants.
Is there a chance of rejection?
Normally, the body does not reject a dental implant. Dental implants are considered as soft tissue transplants. But on rare occasions, a dental implant may fail due to dislocation, unbalanced force on the implant or any existing disease.
What are the advantages of implant treatment?
- The dentures or prostheses prepared after an implant treatment process constitute the most identical structures to human natural teeth.
- They provide better chewing and speaking functions as compared to other traditional prostheses.
- They look more aesthetical than other types of prostheses.
- The missing teeth are being retrieved without having to make any operation on the neighboring teeth thanks to the implants.
- They help increase retention of total prostheses. The much weak retention of mandible total prostheses would be increased considerably by placing two implants into the lower jawbone even the patient does not possess sufficient bone quality.
What happens if my jawbones arent good or strong enough to hold a dental implant?
If you need bone grafting in order to make your tooth implant stronger, or if your gums are too soft; Our dental surgeon operates a bone grafting session. Bone grafting procedure takes 1 to 2 hours. After your grafting session is done, you need to wait for at least two months to recover and have your second appointment as placing the dental implants.

Crowns encase the entire tooth, but veneers only cover over its front surface. Crowns also create significant shape changes in teeth whereas veneers create minor changes.
