Even though there is no special aftercare, you will be given post-op instructions for your crowns. In order to speed up your healing process, you should follow these rules. You should not smoke after the operation because smoking slows down the healing process. You need to avoid excessive alcohol consumption. You also should follow the medication routine set by your dentist and take your antibiotic/painkillers continuously.

Age is not the most important issue regarding dental implants. Our dentists have great success on young patients as well. Missing teeth caused by sports injuries or any other related incidents can successfully be reconstructed by our dentists.

Dental implants procedure can be applied in patients of any age provided that they have a sufficient quantity and quality of bone tissue available. Most healthy individuals who maintain a good oral hygiene program are suitable candidates for dental implants. The situations in which implants may not be suitable or there is an increased risk of implant failure include:

• Heavy smoking – this slows down and hinders the healing process
• Excessive alcohol intake – disrupts healing of the gums
• Periodontal gum disease – all active gum disease must be treated prior to any implant procedure to ensure the long-term success of any treatment. Periodontal disease is a major cause of bone loss, which would hinder the success of any implant procedure
• Immuno-compromised individuals (steroids, auto-immune disease, patients undergoing radiation treatment)
• Teeth grinders (bruxism) – a night-time splint can be given to treat this

If you care about your dental implants properly, they should last for a lifetime. Oral hygiene and routine dentist visits are vital elements for the life of your implants.

Normally, the body does not reject a dental implant. Dental implants are considered as soft tissue transplants. But on rare occasions, a dental implant may fail due to dislocation, unbalanced force on the implant or any existing disease.

• The dentures or prostheses prepared after an implant treatment process constitute the most identical structures to human natural teeth.
• They provide better chewing and speaking functions as compared to other traditional prostheses.

After your grafting session is done, you need to wait for at least two months to recover and have your second appointment as placing the dental implants.

• Your dentist may give you a prescription, please follow the medication plan carefully
• You will have some sutures placed in your mouth and you will be provided with a gauze pack to stop the bleeding. You should bite on the gauze for a good 15-20 minutes. Your dental surgeon will make sure the bleeding stops before you leave the clinic and the gauze will be removed. You may be given a spare pack of gauze in case of further bleeding
• In order to minimize the swelling, you should apply an ice pack on the face over surgical site 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off. You need to continue this for the first 2 days after the surgery
• You should consume liquids as well as soft foods for the first 3 days after your implant procedure. Avoid hot, hard, cold and spicy food
• You should use a straw when you drink, and you should not rinse or spit for the first 24 hours of the procedure. After 24 hours, you can mix salt and warm water to rinse your mouth 4 to 5 times a day in order to protect the surgical area
• You should not drink alcoholic beverages for 48 hours after the procedure

• You should inform your dentist about your routine medication and health history
• You should not take aspirin, blood thinning medication and Vitamin E for a week before your procedure
• You should stop taking any herbal supplements before the dental implant procedure
• You should stop smoking any tobacco products 2 weeks before your dental implant surgery
• You should not drink alcoholic beverages 12 hours prior to the procedure
• You should exercise extra dental hygiene for a few days before your dental bridge procedure in order to heal faster and properly

Patients may experience some discomfort related with any type of dental surgery which is swelling of gums and face, bruising of skin and gums, pain at the implant site and minor bleeding. Discomfort disappears in a couple of days. Patients are provided with absorbable stitches and are advised to follow a soft diet for a week. Recommendations on pain management are given on the day of surgery by the dentist as a part of postoperative instructions.

• If you need bone grafting in order to make your tooth implant stronger, or if your gums are too soft; your dental surgeon operates a bone grafting session. Bone grafting procedure takes 1 to 2 hours. After your grafting session is done, you need to wait for at least two months to recover and have your second appointment as placing the dental implants.
• If you do not need bone grafting then, the first step of the treatment will start and will last up to three hours. Your dental surgeon will examine the implant zones and scales your mouth with special mold.
• You will stay in your hotel and have time to see the surrounding area.

First visit 2nd and/or 3rd day:

• Days 2 and 3 are the second appointment with your dentist. The first phase of your procedure might be finished in your second appointment but there might be another appointment in day three due to the number of implants and the placement technique.
• Your dental surgeon will perform arrangements and fixations for your replacement implants.
• You will be advised on your medication and provided instructions on ice pack usage.
• After these appointments you may return home to come back in a few months.

The patient should wear these implant replacements at least 2-3 months. After this period, there will be another visit to your dentist in order to make the final adjustments on your new dental implants. The second visit may take 2 to 4 days according to the technique practiced in the procedure.

Second Visit – First Day:

• You arrive at the airport and your driver will wait for you at the exit of the customs zone with a tag with your name.

• After the initial registration procedure you will meet your dental surgeon in person. He examines the implant zones and removes the replacements and put the dental implant crones one by one as adjusted and fixed into your mouth. The procedure usually lasts three to four hours.
• You will stay in your hotel and have time to see the surrounding area.

Second Visit – 2nd and/or 3rd and/ or 4th Day:

• There might be a couple of appointments in your second visit. Since all the dental implants are fixed into your mouth, there should be optimum comfort and essential adjustments in your implant zones. The angle, size, sharpness and other qualifications of the implant should be clarified during this period in order to improve your chewing routine.
• In between these appointments you may have time to attend city tours and sightseeing. You may choose to attend any leisure activities including shopping and exploring the city attractions and touring around the neighborhood as well. By choosing one of these options, you will have a chance to explore the city and all the attraction points.
• You may return home after these appointments are completed and your dental implant crone is fully fixed.

Dental crowns can be considered as an alternative treatment to dental veneers. Patients who choose veneers are the ones who want a slight change on the shape of their actual teeth. Crowns encase the entire tooth, but veneers only cover over its front surface. Crowns also create significant shape changes in teeth whereas veneers create minor changes.

The complications are very very rare. But the following may happen according to dental literature: sensitivity on teeth and loss of teeth structure.

In your first visit, you need to stay in the dental clinic for up to three hours for preparation. In your second visit, the procedure focuses on fitting the veneers onto your teeth and making little adjustments. The last visit will be for placement. This procedure will also take up to three hours.

Veneers generally last for 5 to 15 years. This is not a life long solution and they need to be replaced later on. Veneers can also chip or break just like natural teeth. Small cracks can be repaired and a new veneer can be fitted if you need a replacement.

You should take care of your veneers as if they are your natural teeth. You need to brush your veneers twice a day and floss as normal.

Porcelain veneers are good solutions for multiple dental cosmetic issues. They completely change the appearance of the visible area of your teeth. Porcelain veneers can be used in the following issues;

• You are going to wear temporary veneers until your permanent restorations are ready to use
• If your temporary veneers break or fall off, do not worry. The temporary restorations can easily be replaced
• The numbness on the area will last for a few hours after the procedure. You should be careful as you may bite your tongue, lips, and cheeks without realizing it
• You should brush your teeth gently and rinse your mouth carefully for the first few days of the procedure
• You may experience some temperature sensitivity as well as soreness when chewing and speaking. These will settle in a few days when you are fully used to your new veneers

• This will be the free day for you before your second appointment.

3rd day:

• Day 3 is your appointment day with your dentist who is going to make a demo try-on whether the crowns fit or not. This procedure includes trimming and scaling as well in order to assure patient’s oral comfort.
• After this visit you will be free to enjoy the city or stay in your hotel.

4th day:

• This will be another free day for you before your third appointment.
• You may attend city tours and sightseeing. You may choose to attend any leisure activities including shopping and exploring the city attractions and touring around the neighborhood as well. 5th day:

• Day 5 can be considered as the last step of the procedure.
• Your dentist applies the crowns into the patient’s mouth after scaling and arrangements are completed in days 1 and 3.
• Your final procedure will last two to three hours in order to make the proper fitting into your mouth.
• As a final touch, the dental crowns are being polished in order to have an elegant and beautiful smile.
• You will be ready to go back home after the fifth day.

Your new porcelain veneers will not affect your normal oral routine. You can eat just as you have done it before. You do not need to worry about the strength of your veneers. They are very strong and will not break off easily.
